Bess Dress

I can't believe how long it has been since my last post.  I thought my excuse has been dealing with pictures - uploading to the computer, editing and then uploading to flickr.  But I did all that two weeks ago and still haven't written.  At least I have found time to sew and have a constant backlog to share here.

Okay, enough apologies, I made a Bess Dress from the amazing Imagine Gnats pattern.  Rachael is a genius.  This pattern only has two pieces, so I started sewing it at 10:30pm a few Fridays ago and wore it to a shower the next morning (and I even slept. Well, not a lot, but that was baby Sean's fault not the dress').  I used the Social Climber in Gold from Anna Maria Horner's Hand Drawn Garden and I love how it is floral but the colors read so fallish.  Can you tell how happy I am with my pockets? I used another AMH print, Hugs and Kisses, from her Loulouthi line.

I used premade single fold bias tape to finish the neckline, armholes and hem.  Just so you know, one package of tape is just the right amount, about 6 inches left over.

Ugh, and I guess I have to include a full view of the dress.  Actually this is why I was procrastinating writing this post.  I really need to read some pinterest tips on how to pose for photos!  And make normal faces!

If you have never tackled making something for yourself, or even if you have, you should try this pattern!  Very easy to follow with step by step pictures and two pattern pieces.  There are markings on the pattern for making it a top, tunic or dress, too.

Have a great week and a Happy Thanksgiving! xo, Courtney
