Quiltcon: Day Two
Wow, what a great day! I had the pleasure of taking Lizzy House's Mini Quilts workshop. She is an amazing, inspiring teacher!
We started our day with some drawing exercises that really helped us to create a design for our minis. I loved having some direction to start, like "draw lines that touch two sides of your rectangles."
By lunch I had a decent start on my quilt top. I stopped by the vendor/exhibit hall to see Heather Ross' demo and take a peek at her new fabric line! Besides the quilting cottons, there are also prints in jersey. They are supposed to be in stores by July.
Andrew found an amazing place for lunch called Turf & Surf. Best fish and shrimp tacos ever.
Back in class I finished my quilt top and even got it quilted. This was my first attempt at FMQ pebbles, and I don't think it will be my last - so fun! I'm hoping to hand stitch the binding down on the plane ride home tomorrow.
Here is Lizzy with some of the class quilts.
She is as adorable in person as she looks here in her constellation dress. I cannot say enough good things about her class. If you ever have the opportunity to take a class with her you should jump on it.
Well I am off to spend some time in my favorite pre-natal yoga pose, "legs up the wall." I haven't seen my ankles since I left Charlotte yesterday!
