Weekly Journal #10

What I'm eating: Sun Bread.  We had friends over last night and so we read and baked Sun Bread (recipe available here) and shared the picture book The Shortest Day: Celebrating the Winter Solstice.  I wasn't able to get my hands on it in time, but I've heard this new book The Shortest Day is fantastic.  It's a poem by Susan Cooper ( I adored the whole Over Sea, Under Stone series as a kid) and illustrated by Carson Ellis (we love her from Home to the Wildwood series) - an award winning team that is well loved in our home.

What I'm loving: my wrapping station!  I set up a table in the playroom with all the supplies everyone needs to wrap gifts and it is fantastic.  I have rolls of paper, gift tags, fine line sharpies, paper, ribbons and bags in a few baskets under the table and scissors and tape on top. It's really nice to have everything out and the kids don't have to constantly make a mess with the under the bed storage container we usually work out of.

What I'm sharing: Rakuten! I heard about this just last week and I already have close to $20 accrued from last minute shopping - $10 was a welcome bonus from my first purchase.  I wish I had gotten it in November.  I have used plenty of cash back type shopping programs in the past but this is the best.  They seem to have every retailer I can think of, there's a welcome bonus and instead of getting pre-paid credit cards you can get the money put straight into paypal or get sent a check.  You can also get a widget for your tool bar to help you remember to use it and set up your account for in-store purchases.

If you're interested in the wreath above, I got a kit for it here from PaperSource a few years ago (not a sponsored link).
