Weekend

Wow, this week sure went by fast.  I guess it was the holiday in the middle of the week.
We celebrated Independence Day with all of our neighbors on our cul-de-sac.  Have I mentioned that Andrew's Aunt & Uncle moved in next door?  They have two boys, ages 5 and 9.  So our little street is overrun with boys!

That's my Will up front, doing ninja moves (and sporting his board shorts).  All of the pictures were blurry, but I guess that is what you get with half a dozen boys in an open space.

We also made a few "fireworks" of our own from an idea we have seen a lot lately on pinterest.

Baking Soda (base) + Vinegar tinted with food coloring (acid) = Fizzy reaction

Eyedroppers are probably our most favorite artistic tool of the moment.

Today I went to a good friend's Sprinkle Party.  That's like a Baby Shower, but not quite as big of a to do.  This is her third baby, so she was happy to get some diapers and basics.  Of course I had to whip something up this morning.  One advantage to a well stocked sewing room!  I found a plain onesie to embellish, made a burp cloth and a little blankie.

I experimented a little with stamping ribbon tags.  Very fun.  Probably need to perfect it a bit more!

I even found some time to work on my Modern Medallion Quilt for Handstitched Camp.  More than half way around with the little embroidered half square triangles.

I also made the first of my Storm at Sea blocks.  Rather than English Paper Piecing I did Machine Paper Piecing.  A little quicker and I seem to be getting behind.  I'm going to focus on this next border for a while and come back to the HST's when I have a little more time (I know, that never happens!).

Now I am off to dinner at a friend's house.  I am bringing my favorite Super Food Salad.  I love anything with lemon vinaigrette!
I hope you are having a lovely weekend!  xo, Courtney

  1. I love the baby things. I ordered the fabric stamp pads on Amazon like you did. I am waiting for my new stamp, O'Quilts to come...so exciting. Nice you have a well stocked sewing room. There is nothing like it.

  2. Love seeing the projects you do with your boys! And your quilt looks great-- good idea to machine paper piece. I'm behind too... The one advantage-- I get to take later class skills and put them into the earlier projects (or so I tell myself :))

  3. Love your Storm at Sea block! I had such a hard time choosing fabrics for mine. Looks bright and beautiful!

  4. And all that in just a weekend!!! I love the embroidery block. I starting in the crafting world years ago with embroidery and then became a quilting junkie. It would appear embroidery is becoming 'now'. How cool to combine them both. Cheers, Karen.
